Camp sites in Catalonia (Cataluña), the area around Barcelona

Camping in Catalonia usually means a camp site on the Costa Brava, the popular holiday area around the resorts of Blanes and Sitges. But Cataluña is more than just sun, sea and sand! With its four provinces Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona and the 41 different regions within them, Catalonia, on the Mediterranean and right next to the Pyrenees, has all the ingredients of a successful holiday.

Camping on the Costa Brava: the wayward and beautiful region of Catalonia!

There are beaches in all shapes and sizes close to all the camp sites on the Costa Brava. Some wide and never-ending, others narrow and intimate tucked away in little bays. But anyone visiting the Costa Brava purely and simply for its fine beaches is not doing the region justice. The beautiful city of Barcelona is not to be missed if you are staying on a Costa Brava camp site. Explore the city by foot and you will discover one surprise after another. There is a Gothic district, the two old districts of La Ribera and many impressive modern buildings in the centre of the city including the unique works of Gaudí. Tarragona is another attraction when camping on the Costa Brava. Located at the mouth of the Francoli river you can look out over the sea from the Passeig de les Palmeres and you can walk round almost the entire town on the old city walls. But Catalonia also means unspoilt nature, just a bit inland and away from the coast.

Costa Brava was much more pleasant than I expected. Lots to see and do.

Alan Lassey

Beautiful area with lots of places to visit . L’Estartit is on the edge of a nature réserve.

Pat Hattie

Very clean and friendly area. Lovely Restaurants and Café's at reasonable prices. Took the Roses Express train up to the surrounding mountains with fantastic views of the bay and Roses, fantastic trip.

Within a 30 minute drive you can visit the townships of Empuriabrava,L'Escala, Cadaqués and El Port de la Selva. In roses itself is the roman and greek Historical Ruins called Museu de la Ciutadella de Roses. There is also another outside L'Escala. Yes lots of history around this area including and not to be missed the Conjunt monumental de Sant Pere de Rodes. I am also a keen cyclist so plenty of quite roads and scenery to explore. Yes we were very impressed with this campsite and the surroundings.
