Camp sites in Zala

Camp sites on the northwest shores of the enormous Lake Balaton are located in the Zala region, around the beautiful town of Keszthely, the oldest town on Lake Balaton. If you are at a camp site on this part of Lake Balaton you really must visit this enchanting town with lovely old buildings, a lively tourist centre and a magnificent castle, Festetics. Camp sites around the enormous Lake Balaton are popular for the lake itself which slopes gently from the shore making it suitable for children. Thanks to its average depth of only 3 metres the water temperature is most agreeable. You can rent surfboards and sailing boats and go water skiing and parasailing at many camp sites on Lake Balaton.

Tourism plays an important role around the camp sites at Lake Balaton and there is plenty of choice of restaurants, bars and other places of entertainment. It is especially good if you are on a camp site in Hungary during one of the many summer festivals! You will frequently come across the word “csárda” on your camping holiday at Lake Balaton, it means a bar or restaurant. Besides eating and drinking well there is often dancing to traditional Hungarian music.
